Garden decking area
A new timber decking area built on a protected C24 subframe and finished with a planted flower bed along one side.

The work
I prepared the garden area and cleared debris before digging holes for nine structural posts. The post ends were coated with bitumen paint and secured with Postcrete to form the support for the deck. I then constructed the subframe from C24 treated timber, fixing it in place with galvanised coach screws and washers.
A weed-control membrane and gravel were installed beneath the deck, and I applied bitumen paint to the upper surface of the subframe for added protection before fitting the decking boards. The boards were cut to mirror the shape of the frame. To complete the area, I added a side flower bed planted with grasses and other perennials.
Finishes
- C24 treated timber
- Bitumen paint
