Open kitchen shelving made from used pine scaffolding boards, finished with wax and fitted on brackets painted to match the walls.

The work
The wall cabinets had already been removed, and the customer wanted open shelving in their place with a rustic appearance. I sourced thick used pine scaffolding boards to suit the look, then cut each board to size for the kitchen wall.
The boards were sanded with care, retaining the visible marks and dents in the timber rather than removing them completely. I applied a high-quality wax finish before fitting the shelves to brackets painted the same colour as the walls. The completed shelves provide accessible storage and space to display the customer’s kitchen crockery and vintage glassware.
